Our History

The Kircherhof has been in our family for four generations, but its history dates back to the 16th century. The responsibility to its history is the source of our strength. Every generation has left and still leaves their own mark, makes changes and creates something new. Our wood-panelled parlour dates back to 1795 and you can still visit the old mill and the sawmill next door.

Once a traditional farm with mixed farming, our family business has grown into a specialized Bioland-certified farm producing organic fruit and vegetables. In our quest for new ideas we expanded the Kircherhof in 2003 by opening a restaurant and offering holiday apartments. Our last project was our farm shop, the 'Hofladen', in which you can taste and purchase homegrown products and selected regional specialities and wines.

Our Family

On our family farm, there's always someone to give a helping hand. Barbara and Wolfgang are the creative duo behind our restaurant. Verena and Stephan take good care of you during your stay in one of our apartments. Together we develop and realize new ideas like our farm shop and tend to all your needs and requests.

Peter's world are his fields. He knows each and every one of his apple trees. If you want to know more about South Tyrol's agriculture or just get some tips for your garden, Peter is your man. Veronika is the heart and soul of our farm. Without her, the Kircherhof wouldn't be the home that we know. Maria and Thomas thoroughly put all our products and ideas to the test. A trained doctor, we fully trust Maria's advice.

Our brother Thomas is the focal point of our family. He humbly shows us what really matters in life. We all want the Kircherhof to be a special place and to make you feel at home when you come to visit.

Life at the Farm

Agriculture is in our DNA. We manage eight hectares of apples and two hectares of fruit and vegetables, which we use in our restaurant and sell in our farm shop. We are part of the farm cooperative in Brixen, which ships our apples to buyers around the globe. Since 2019 the transition to organic farming has been complete, which was a very important step for us.

For Peter it's always been about quality, sustainability and the appreciation of his produce - values that already his father imparted to him and which you find reflected on our menu and in our farm shop. We're living with the seasons: in spring we prepare our elderflower juice, in summer we harvest and process our produce, in autumn we cut our cabbage and in winter we cure meat to produce the famous South Tyrolean speck.

We're more than happy to show you around. If you want you can partake in the daily life at our farm and visit our fields. We are convinced that a better understanding of agriculture and nature, of food and its production increases the quality of life and makes for better enjoyment.

Around the Kircherhof

A few kilometres outside Brixen lies our home, the village of Albeins. Directly at the village square, next to the church of St. Margaret, yet in the midst of apple trees and nature you'll find our farm, the Kircherhof, where we hope to welcome you soon. Despite its quiet location, the Kircherhof is easily reachable by car, bus and rail.

The Kircherhof is the perfect spot for relaxation and recreation. Several hiking trails pass by our farm. We're ideally situated to explore the cultural city of Brixen or the Plose, its landmark mountain. Other nearby destinations include the Valley of Villnöss, the Puez-Geisler nature reserve as well as the quaint artists' town of Klausen.

Thanks to the motorway exit Brixen you can also stop by for a quick refreshment break on your way south.
